PoDIUM participated in the ITS World Congress 2025, which took place in Atlanta from 24 to 28 August. The project was featured in the Special Interest Session 66 ‘Traffic Efficiency and Safety Through CCAM’, organised by the project coordinator ICCS/I-SENSE Group on 28 August. The session explored how Connected, Cooperative, and Automated Mobility (CCAM) and Physical-Digital Infrastructure (PDI) can improve mobility around the world.
PoDIUM presented its work on smart traffic control systems, demonstrating how real-time connected vehicle data can support safer and more efficient mobility. The session also included contributions from related projects and initiatives, covering cyber-physical infrastructure for Operational Design Domain (ODD) continuity, GIS-based approaches, and satellite-based Positioning, Navigation, and Timing (PNT) solutions for urban mobility.
Moderated by Angelos Amditis (ICCS – NTUA), the session brought together speakers from Europe and North America including Tracy Larkin-Thomason (Nevada Department of Transportation), Evangelia Latsa (ICCS) representing PoDIUM, Nikolaos Tsampieris (ERTICO – ITS Europe) representing the FRODDO project, Dr Johanna Tzanidaki (AYA Consulting B.V.), and Daniel Kligerman (Esri Canada).
The session highlighted how solutions tested in PoDIUM and other projects are contributing to safer, more connected and automated transport systems. Discussions with participants underlined the importance of collaboration and the exchange of lessons learned to accelerate the integration of these technologies into existing urban networks.
