On 20 November, following the PoDIUM Final Event and the first demonstration at the Spanish Living Lab, PoDIUM held a second live demonstration in Barcelona, showcasing real-time responsive Physical-Digital Infrastructure (PDI) for CCAM-enabled traffic management, hosted by Abertis Autopistas España.
Project partners had the opportunity to visit the Autopistas Traffic Control Centre and the Future Road Lab, where they were welcomed by Marc Padrós Guitart. Presentations from Xavier Daura Albeldo and Cristina García Osorio provided an overview of Autopistas’s approach to traffic management, incident prediction and digital services.
The live demonstration took place on 12 km along the C-32, which is part of the Autopistas Future Road Lab. Four C-V2X RSUs, twelve AI cameras and a 5G network connected to the Edge-Cloud Traffic Management Centre and its Digital Twin enabled continuous and reliable communication between vehicles and infrastructure. During the drive through the corridor, in-vehicle HMIs displayed real-time updates while the Traffic Management Centre monitored conditions and issued recommendations. A stopped-vehicle scenario showed how the system detects a hazard and sends targeted real-time warnings directly to drivers. The setup replicated cross-border operational conditions, demonstrating uninterrupted 5G and C-V2X connectivity to support coordinated traffic strategies on both sides of the border.
In the afternoon, the consortium held its eighth and final plenary meeting. As the project entered its final month, partners reviewed project and technical achievements, discussed progress on the remaining deliverables, and aligned on the final tasks to ensure the successful conclusion of the project.
