PoDIUM aims to advance a set of key technologies both in the physical and digital part of the infrastructure to address the challenges in road automation and telecommunications linked with connectivity, cooperation, data management, interoperability and reliability in order to foster the development of advanced Connected, Cooperative and Automated Mobility (CCAM) solutions.
The project will carry out demonstrations in real-life conditions of specific use cases in three Living Labs in Germany, Italy and Spain, in urban, highway and cross-border environments.
PoDIUM’s final outcome will be a reference architecture that can be applied to various road environments and infrastructure equipment.

Together with its Partners, ERTICO develops, promotes and deploys Intelligent Transport Systems and Services (ITS) through various activities including European co-funded projects, innovation platforms, and international cooperation advocacy. ERTICO is the organiser of the annual ITS European and World Congresses in Europe.
ERTICO focus areas are Connected Cooperative & Automated Driving, Urban Mobility, Clean & Eco Mobility, and Transport & Logistics.
FSCOM
FSCOM is an SME located in the technology park of Sophia Antipolis. FSCOM vision is to ensure that the Industry uses international standards and apply robust testing methodologies to validate their product and services and thus optimize their development process.
As member of the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI), FSCOM is actively contributing to the Telecommunications standardisation building up on its experience of validating Telecommunications network and devices for the industry.
FSCOM participates in the ETSI’s Specialised Task Forces (STF) for the development of Technical Specifications, especially in the context of test specifications (test purposes and descriptions, abstract test cases in TTCN-3, validation) for various connectivity technologies.
FSCOM provides services to the Industry to test and validate their systems, while following a formal and standardised approach, ensuring the replicability of the testing scenarios and thus the suitability of the test results. In particular FSCOM has contributed to the development and interoperability of Intelligent Transport Systems.
FSCOM provides consultancy for developing technical specifications and working with standardisation bodies, including regulation and the GoToMarket aspects covering thus the whole product value chain.
FSCOM contributes to the Innovation and Development of ITS solutions as part of the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe work programmes.
ICCS
ICCS, the Institute of Communication and Computer Systems, is a non-profit Academic Research Body established in 1989 by the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs to carry applied Research and Development activities in the areas of telecommunications, computer systems and their applications in a variety of research themes. ICCS is linked to the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and in particular with the School of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE).
ICCS consists of more than 50 labs, research groups and teams, dealing with all aspects of Electrical and Computer Engineering and employs approximately 800 researchers and scientists including Faculty Members, permanent or long-term Researchers. In PoDIUM, ICCS is represented by one of its Research Groups, the I-SENSE Group. I-SENSE Group consists of more than 100 researchers of various ranks and is very active in a number of scientific and research areas, with main application areas being the Intelligent Transportation Systems, the Virtual Environments, the Assistive Technologies and the Smart Integrated Systems & Communications. I-SENSE has coordinated and participated in more than 150 Research Projects, both EU funded and National ones, over the last 20 years, and has worked with several industry leaders since its establishment in 2002. Next to PODIUM, I-SENSE is currently coordinating the following projects: EVENTS, HYPERION, 5G-IANA, IN-PREP, eCharge4Drivers, CitySCAPE and DIONE.
Municipal Institute of Information Technology (IMI)
Municipal Institute of Information Technology (IMI) The mission of the Municipal Institute of Information Technology (IMI) is to develop and centralise all the Information Technologies and Communication activities of the Barcelona City Council. It is also responsible for Business Process Re-engineering in the City Council offices and providing technical support to all BI activities for Citizens. The IMI is the technical authority for the municipal website and a key player defining the eGovernment strategy for the Municipality and the launch of online public to citizens. IMI plays an important role in the main networking of cities related to that field (Eurocities, Major Cities of Europe, C40, UCLG, Metropolis) and participates in numerous European projects concerning the development of ICTs for the improvement of public services, involving domains such as Mobility, Energy, Platform and e-Governance.

InCites Consulting SA is an SME company established in Luxembourg on May 2013. The main activities of InCites can be summarised as follows:
- Consulting services regarding techno-economic analysis of ICT systems and services, demand and prices forecasting of ICT products and services.
- Consulting services on regulatory economics and financial investments in ICT.
- Provision of consultancy services for the development of bottom-up and top-down models for telecommunication networks for regulators, government agencies, network operators and associations.

Autostrada del Brennero SpA
Autostrada del Brennero SpA is a corporation that manages the Brenner motorway (A22), a toll motorway starting from the Austrian border at the Brenner pass and ending near the city of Modena.
It lies along the European TEN-T Scandinavian-Mediterranean corridor. At present, it is 314 km long, with two lanes per direction.
Autostrada del Brennero, founded in 1959, is shared by public capital for an amount larger than 80%.
Substantial investments have been dedicated to the infrastructure: currently, a wide variety of devices (traffic sensors, weather/fog sensors, video cameras, road side units, etc.) is installed along the motorway and a high-speed data network guarantees a close monitoring of the traffic and environmental conditions.
Automatic incident detection systems as well as co-operative traffic management and user information systems guarantee an efficient management of the motorway.
LINKS – Leading Innovation & Knowledge for Society
LINKS is a Foundation born from an agreement between Compagnia di San Paolo and Politecnico di Torino counting more than 150 researchers in the fields of applied research, innovation and technology transfer at national and international level for about 20 years.
Researchers at LINKS master technical-scientific disciplines in several areas of engineering and architecture such as, for example, Artificial Intelligence, Smart Data, IoT, Photonics and Satellite Localization to carry out innovative projects in application sectors ranging from Industry 4.0 to Cybersecurity, from Intelligent Mobility to Agritech, from Space Applications to Medicine and Well Being, from Smart Cities to Cultural Heritage.

Vicomtech
Vicomtech is an applied research centre for Interactive Computer Graphics and Multimedia located in San Sebastian (Spain). It is a non-profit association, founded in 2001 as a joint venture by the Fraunhofer INI- GraphicsNet Foundation and the EiTB Broadcasting Group. The role of VICOM in the market is to supply society with technology by transfer of primary research to industry. This is done through collaborative R&D projects. VICOM’s main research lines lay in the fields of computer vision, computer graphics and interaction; technologies which VICOM applies in multiple sectors. The main research group that will contribute to the execution of the PoDIUM project is the Connected & Cooperative Automated Systems.

In the context of PoDIUM, NCS is developing the functionality to reliably and flexibly schedule application traffic between communicating autonomous devices and the environmental infrastructure onto available communication technologies. This includes the configurability of redundancy and priorization options.

Ulm University (UULM) – Institute of Measurement, Control and Microtechnology Research at the Institute of Measurement, Control and Microtechnology at Ulm University (UULM) comprises modelling, analysis, and simulation of dynamic systems, design methods for distributed-parameter and multi-agent systems, model-based measurement methods, as well as fusion methods for information from multi-channel sensor streams. An additional focus is set on methods for estimating states and probability of existence of objects measured by sensors and on classification methods. Areas of application include, but are not limited to automotive and medical engineering. Teaching comprises basic and advanced courses on measurement, control, and automation engineering.
